Breed Logbook

First there is a new design for the breed logbook with photos. Add your own pictures or use the built-in ones.

Favorites List

The favorites list now also has images.

Improved search

Now you can search for any word in a breed name, including common alternative names. And don't worry about finding those special diacritical characters on your keyboard. Search finds the right breed either way.

Small little tips throughout the app

Apple has a great API called TipKit which allows us to place timely little tips in the app to show you how to use it. Without having a boring onboarding flow that most people will swipe past anyway.

Should you still get lost, there's always the help section under the paw menu button.

Share a breed with your friends

Share it via Messages, email, social media, etc.

They don't even have to have the app installed. But after they read the great text and see the cute images, they won't be able to resist downloading it!

The core feature of the app is to show only one new breed per day. But you can use the search feature any time to find your favorite breeds in the app.

We have been working so long and hard on this app, and now it's time to get your feedback. We think the functionality and the UI is very intuitive, but does it make sense to you? What do you find confusing? Feedback please!

Be sure to test the very important purchase process for us. The worst nightmare is to launch an app only to find that customers cannot pay you. You will NOT be charged anything during the test phase. The app does not have any subscriptions (what a concept in 2026!), so there will not be any future charges either.

Maybe we should have commissioned a photographer to take the necessary photos. But finding dogs for each breed and traveling around the world to photograph them would be a project larger than the app itself.

Generative AI is creating really good images now. But how would we know that the generated images actually show the right breed and not a hallucinations of phantom dogs?

To help us with the images I'm very happy to add Asmat in Canada to the project. He's a licensed veterinarian and has a PhD in anatomy. Welcome to the team!

The two dots and the wavy edge at the top are supposed to evoke a traditional paper calendar where you tear off each calendar sheet. The wavy line is also on the main screen of the app. See the previous post for an example.

The page curl at the bottom right corner also carries through to the app when you turn the page.

I'm really happy with this!

There will be more icons in the app so you can choose your favorite breed (within reason).
